All these things are possible through a Spiritual Medium and Mediumship. It IS possible
to communicate with your loved ones in the Spirit World, to find out how they are, feel the love they have, offer and receive
forgiveness.
If you knew that your loved one in Spirit was waiting at the other end of a telephone, would you not ring them, contact them
today? Mediumship is as easy as this, you contact the clairvoyant who makes himself available for Spirit to talk with him
and then he relays their thoughts, messages and feelings to you.
Ease the pain of your grief; find comfort, peace and understanding that the bond of
love does make life after death a possibility.
What is a Spiritual Medium?
A Spiritual Medium is a person who makes themselves available to the Spirit world
so that members of the Spirit world can communicate with people who are still alive. A medium is just an ordinary person who
has the ability to use more than his / her five senses. He /she does not have the ability to "call up" or "disturb" the dead,
because it is not the medium who chooses who he / she would like to communicate with. This is the choice of those in the Spirit
world. However, through personal development, the medium learns to differentiate between Spirits that are not so desirable
(those who give false information or cause trouble) and those that come in love and sincerity.
What
is the purpose of Mediumship?
Although most people would say that a medium should only use their gifts to prove
that life does exist after death, I believe that if spirit have made the effort to communicate with their friends and loved
ones, they do so for a purpose and any information that they wish to give to help us, either in our spiritual life or material
life, should be listened to with love and gratitude, rather than dismissed as fortune telling. A close friend (who is still
alive) came to visit me yesterday. If when I answered the front door to him I had not acknowledge him but simply turned him
away once I saw that he was OK, you would regard me as impolite to say the least. What actually happened was that I realised
he had come to visit me for a reason and invited him in to talk to me. Surely we should offer this same courtesy to our friends
and loved ones in the Spirit world who make the effort to visit us? If we are afraid, or uncertain who is there, then we can
choose not to open the door, but to shut it in their face is another thing.
How do Mediums Work?
Each medium is a unique individual and as such, work in their own way. Just as we
use a combination of our physical senses in the material world (touch, hearing, sight etc) to communicate with others, Spirit
use a combination of the "extra sensory perceptions" of clairvoyance, clairaudience, and clairsentience to communicate with
mediums. I can only speak from my own personal experiences as to the way in which Spirit work with me. As I mentioned earlier,
each individual works in a different way and different people may experience Spirit communication in different ways.
What is Clairvoyance?
Clair-voyance means clear-seeing. This may be experienced either subjectively or objectively.
The easiest way to explain the way that I experience clairvoyance subjectively is for you to try this:
Think back to a favorite holiday / scene that you have experienced in the past. Travel
back and "re-live" the images in your mind. This is the same way that Spirit show me their "images". Some are their own personal
memories; others are images which convey information which help to provide guidance for the future.
When I experience clairvoyance objectively, I see spirit in the same way that I would
see you if you were standing in front of me. This is a rare
occurrence though, as most of the clairvoyance I receive is subjective.
What is Clairaudience?
Clair-audience is clear-hearing. Once again, this may occur on a subjective level
or on an objective level. We all "talk" to ourselves as we go about our daily lives. Thoughts of "Where did I put that?" or
"If I don't hurry up, I shall be late." With subjective clairaudience, the experience is similar, except that the "thoughts"
which come into our mind come from the Spirit world.
Objective Clairaudience is where Spirit can be heard as if
they are standing next to you in a physical sense, and talking into your ear. This too, is a rare occurrence for me, as most
of the clairaudience I receive is on a subjective level.
What is Clairsentience?
Clair-sentience
is clear-sensing. This is the main way in which I work, both on a subjective and objective level. To try and understand the
way that "sensing" works on a subjective level, try this:
Have you entered a room where there has been an argument and "felt" the atmosphere?
“You could cut it with a knife" some people say. This is a good example of using our "senses" to sense energy subjectively.
When I "sense" spirit energy subjectively, I "feel" their emotions, both those being experienced at the time of their communicating
with me and also those emotions that they relay to me to describe their experiences of the past. Objectively, I sense Spirit
as a feeling of warmth or heat, coldness or a slight breeze, tingling, palpitations or other similar sensations. It is a common
occurrence for me to feel the physical pain that the person in Spirit had felt prior to passing and you may also feel this
as your loved ones draw close to you in the Spiritual sense.
Developing your own
Mediumship
We all have the ability to communicate with Spirit, as we
are, indeed, Spirit ourselves in a material body. The objective in "developing" our own Mediumship is to help us to learn
to differentiate between the images, thoughts and feelings that come from within ourselves (subconscious thoughts, memories,
life experiences and our own emotions and physical pain) from those of spirit who are trying to communicate.
As you seek to develop your own awareness of Spirit and Spirit
communication you will become increasingly aware of the many blessings and difficulties that are involved. That is why I always
advocate that a deep desire to be of service to others and that dedication and commitment are necessary pre-requisites for
the true Spiritual seeker, because without such determination, the road can often become a difficult one to follow.
Therefore, I believe that the best place to start on your
own path to Spiritual development is to firstly understand your motivations for undertaking this journey. Like attracts like
and if your motives are anything other than pure, honest and for the good of others, you may well find yourself attracting
Spirit who also lack integrity.
Before you can truly know and understand others (be it those here
on earth or those in Spirit) you firstly have to learn to know yourself. Otherwise, how can you hope to differentiate between
the two? Learn to communicate with your own Spirit through meditation and introspection and it will help you to know yourself.
When you are comfortable with your own beliefs, feelings, thoughts and emotions, you will find it easier to become aware of
and empathetic towards those of others, both here and in Spirit.
How did Mediumship
start?
Psychic predictions and phenomena can be traced
back throughout history, but the first professional mediums date back to 1848. The Fox family of Hydesville, New York, were visited by friendly spirits eager to prove life continued even after death.
The two daughters realising a talent for this
communication, hired a hall to demonstrate their abilities. The sisters also travelled to further demonstrate their unique
talents and before long similar groups sprang up across the country. This was probably the beginning of the Spiritualist movement
which has become so popular today.
During the 1850`s a new ambassador arose in
the form of Emma Hardinge Britten. Born in England, but moved to America to work. Emma became famous as a trance medium.
She toured America, Canada,
Australia and New Zealand
spreading the word. But mediums of this era were subjected to ridicule and persecution from both the Church and other sceptics.
The first medium to operate in Britain was a Mrs. Hayden, who took residence in London
and held séances. But it was a group of Cambridge scholars
who, in 1882 founded the Society for Psychical Research, pushed the subject further into recognition. Their aim was to `investigate
debatable phenomena without prejudice`, even if that claim itself was debatable.
The early demonstrations of Mediumship were all very physical, rapping's, table-tilting, materialisation's etc. but
over the years these declined in popularity to be replaced by the type of Mediumship we witness today. Nowadays modern mediums
work by using the mind as receiver and relaying information to those who need it. The evidence given of the after-life can
be even more convincing in this manner. -
How do modern
mediums work?
If we accept that dying is not the
end of our existence, just the end of the body that carried our consciousness and that our soul survives and exists somewhere
else, then it might be possible to make contact with that consciousness and all the emotions and memories that made that person
what they were.
But where are they? Not as far away
as some would think! The world of spirit exists all around us, but just out of reach. It might be better to think of it as
a dimension rather than a place. Most believe that this world exists on a different vibration to our own. It might also help
to think of it as different frequency, much like a radio has different frequencies. The medium has learned to attune to this
different and higher frequency or vibration. Likewise, those in the spirit world can tune into us, it is this joint effort
that enables communication.
When a medium sits with a client, the medium
is in a highly receptive state. Our spirit family and friends can see and hear us; they may even have accompanied you to the
meeting! But it is the mediums ability to slow down and alter their perception, raising their awareness to a subtle energy
that allows them to perceive the messages from spirit.
This contact is conducted through thought;
these thoughts are then transmitted by the communicating spirit person to the medium. Although mediums mainly give the messages
they are given, it is possible for the medium to ask questions and receive an answer. After all this is a live communication!
It is also important to realise spirit people have a choice of communicating with us, a medium cannot in any way force the
spirit person to make themselves known.
This initial contact is often referred to
as `making a link`. The medium has made a request, by thought, for a communicator to come forward. Just how successful the
communication is depends on the experience of the medium, although other factors come into the picture. Once a link is established,
the spirit person will often want to prove their identity. The spirit communicator will transmit thoughts about themselves
to the medium, the medium will be able to interpret these thoughts and describe the person back to the client.
To be able to interpret any information a
medium has to learn how to attune to the spirit world. While some mediums have grown up with the ability others have to train
their minds to accept information in this way.
This is often done by means of meditation,
a process of calming the body and allowing the mind to become receptive. This can, to some extent be taught to anybody, but
not all who try will become mediums.
Our scientists, who have studied the
human brain, insist we see more with our brain than we do with our eyes, the eyes being just a window. This might help explain
how mediums can 'see' our spirit friends, the data has simply arrived in an alternative way, and the brain processes the data
and 'sees' the information.
What are the different
skills of a medium?
A medium usually has a variety of
psychic skills, but the underlying purpose behind them is threefold; to prove the existence of life after death, to console
and advise others and to further develop their own spirituality. How a medium comes to be is based on many factors. Some are
born to it, having been able to see spirit people when they were children, and simply developing those abilities in adulthood.
Others come to it later because of a bereavement, when they seek the services of medium, and then go on to learn the skills
themselves. Even curiosity can lead to the development of psychic abilities.
A medium may have any number of skills,
though it is more usual for them to excel in just one or two. If we take the late famous medium Doris Stokes for example,
she specialised in clairaudience, hearing spirit voices. Generally most mediums work by seeing pictures in their mind; it
is this initial image that allows the medium to describe a person in spirit. But often it the combination of senses that make
up the whole picture. Spirit communicators are able to send feelings, known as clairsentience, to the medium. This is particularly
useful if they are trying to indicate what ailment caused them to pass over. They may for example send a mild pain to the
heart of the medium; the medium would then be able to tell the client how their loved one died. This is used as excellent
evidence. These thoughts, feelings, voices and pictures can be all be used together, but also range in intensity. Sometimes
the information flows so easily that the medium has no doubts about the information being given, but on other occasions the
information can seem a little patchy, and the medium needs to work harder to resolve what comes through. One explanation for
this variation in intensity or quality could be to do with how well the spirit communicator has learned to communicate. But
could also be due the mediums ability to tune-in and the rapport with their spirit guides, who play an important role in the
proceedings.
It is commonly believed that mental pictures
are the easiest format to recognise, after all we are used to seeing images in our every-day lives. But many mediums work
with symbolic images; these images represent what the spirit person is trying to communicate, but often not directly. You
could think of it as a cryptic visual puzzle. For example if the medium is shown water, it could be that the spirit person
had connections with water in his or her life, such as being in the navy or coastguard. The medium requires some interpretation
skills when passing on messages of this kind.
It is common to find crystals, Tarot Cards,
candles, Native American symbols and other such objects on the table of a working medium. These articles may represent something
that interests that medium, such as Native American artifacts. The Native Americans have long been associated with mediums,
as their culture, or certainly their beliefs, are similar to those of spiritualists. Many Natives choose to work as spirit
guides, helping the medium to develop and use their skills. Crystals,
Tarot cards and Angel cards also aid the medium to tune-in, and therefore give a better reading.
How can a medium
do a reading over the phone, by letter or email?
Mediums work with their spirit guides
who play an important role in the communication process. But each and every one of us has our own spirit guide, they protect
and help us. Part of this protection is to ensure that the information given to a medium is something you yourself would be
willing to divulge. It may be a deep problem that you might not normally share with a stranger, but ultimately would like
to discuss and solve. But I have never received information that I was not supposed to know, so they must be doing their job!
For a reading to take place over what we consider
a great distance, say someone in America writing to someone in England, there must be a link in spirit. When I receive
a letter my spirit guide is as aware of its contents as I am. My guide then makes contact with your guide and the two converse. This begins a series of thoughts that stretch out into spirit, these thoughts
are recognised by those we know and hopefully they can make contact with my guide who will help them to communicate with me
or any other medium. So when we say the power of thought is powerful, it really is!
In the spirit world, all spirit people are
connected, telepathically for want of a better word or description. It is a wonderful way of communicating and helps to explain
how we are able to make the links we do. Individual personalities still exist in spirit, but it is this deep understanding
and linking that bonds them together.
On the Road to
Mediumship...
For many the road to Mediumship will
not have been an easy one. All too often some suffering has taken place in their lives. It is through these experiences the
soul can be made aware of a greater plan, and our reception to this knowledge better received. Most mediums are caring, sensitive
people; it is this unique attribute which allows them to be open enough to hear the thoughts of spirit communicators. Mediums
also need to realise they have a great responsibility when dealing with the myriad of emotions of the people that come to
them. Mediums continually strive for better communication
Why do mediums and psychics
charge fees?
This is a common question, especially as they
are supposed to be doing their work in spiritual way, for the good of others. The fact is that many mediums decide to dedicate
their life to Mediumship, this entails travelling the country, visiting churches and various other events. It also means that at some point, holding down a 9-5pm job becomes impossible. Unfortunately, bills, rent, mortgage and food bills still need to paid,
and their spiritual `work` also becomes their income. But beware of those charging too much, and premium rate phone numbers,
there will always be those ready to exploit the vulnerable and give the genuine a bad name.
The Job of a Medium
Although mediums and psychics may have an
eye into your soul, are able to foresee some future events and generally advise you, they are not there to tell you what to
do. The task of psychics is to help you take direction and control of your own situations. Sometimes the advice my sound a
little vague, but they may simply be suggesting a new set of experiences that will be of benefit to you.
Meeting with a
Medium
Deciding to meet with a medium could
be because you have lost someone close to you, because you seek guidance in your life or simply out of curiosity, all valid
reasons. Whatever the reason, most people find it a fascinating and rewarding experience.
But unfortunately, many is the sad
tale of someone who sought out the services of psychics and mediums, only to come away disheartened and disappointed, vowing
never to return.
Mediumship, like many other skills,
need to be perfected, and an inexperienced medium may not be able to give as much evidence as a medium who has been working
ten or twenty years. Therefore if you are seeking proof that your loved one is indeed in spirit, it might be worth seeking
out the services of more than one medium. The information may be different on each occasion and it this 'picture building'
that usually convinces.
There are unfortunately, many frauds willing
to take your money. As a clairvoyant myself, I am saddened by how commercialised this subject has become. Also, some of the
best clairvoyants and mediums can have an off day, but those who are genuine will generally tell you and offer a refund. A
good medium should be able to give you solid evidence of survival; this might include a description of your loved one, height,
build, hair colour etc...
In may also include character, accent, clothes, likes or dislikes, things they used to do, their job, certain
mannerisms etc. There are no rules here, and it can depend on how strong the communication is and how long it lasts, but you
should have no doubt that the medium is talking
about someone you recognise.
What can I expect?
Modern day mediums will often explain how
they work and do their best to put you at ease. If you can approach the reading with an open mind it will help things go better.
Generally after the explanation the medium will tune-in to see what they can receive. This could result in two things, either
they will immediately describe a person to you, and ask if you recognise the description. After which the medium may be told
by the person they are in contact with about current or past events in your life. Once confirmed, you may be given advice
concerning those or future events. Or, the medium will start on a psychic level, they will again tell you of you current situation,
pick up on feelings that you have, career, relationships or other matters. It may be that later on in the reading they will
then get further advice from those in spirit. It really is quite a simple affair, no spooks will dance round the room, no
table rapping, just an intimate conversation about you, your life, and advice given with sincerity.
What is the difference between a medium and a psychic?
A medium works on a different level than a psychic and usually
offers a different type of information. A medium will make a connection with your loved ones in spirit and the information
given is a communication from spirit. A psychic attunes to and interprets the energies from the sitter and spirit does not
often come into the equation.
When booking
a reading, you asked me not to include any details regarding my loved one in spirit, myself, or my family. Why is this? Aren't
you interested? Don't you care?
It is not that I don't care, on the contrary, by asking you
not to reveal any details regarding you, or your loved one in spirit, you can be sure that the information which is given
to you in your reading does come from spirit and is not something that is being "re-cycled" back to you.
You advertise
that you use Tarot Cards and Angel Cards to do your readings. If you are a true clairvoyant why do you need the cards?
You are right, a true clairvoyant does not
need to use Tarot Cards, Angel Cards or anything else, e.g. an item of jewellery or clothing (hat, scarf, glove etc.) because
they receive the information for your reading from your loved ones in spirit.
I use the tarot cards to give guidance
for the future, because that is what most people are familiar and comfortable with. Information for both Tarot and Mediumship
readings come from your loved ones in spirit, whether I use tarot cards or nothing. Another reason I use Tarot cards and Angel
Cards are because some clients feel a little 'uneasy' about the prospect of "talking to the dead."
What is the difference between a Spiritual Medium and a Psychic medium?
A Spiritual Medium connects with the spirit of your loved
one(s) who have passed on into the spirit world. A Psychic Medium, by definition of the name, claims to work on a psychic
level and also to communicate with the spirit world. If a person is a medium and is thereby able to connect to the spirit
world, they shouldn't need to work on a psychic level, so the true definition of the term "psychic medium" appears, to me,
to be a contradiction.
Contrary to popular belief, mediums and psychics
are not machines which can be randomly turned on and off. Many subtle factors are involved in the receiving and interpretation
of information being relayed by your loved ones in spirit.
Sometimes, everything falls very nicely into place and a strong
connection, or link is established. At other times, this may not be the case. The failure to establish or maintain a strong
link with spirit may have nothing to do with either the medium or the person having the reading and this is especially so
in public chat rooms where others, play psychic "tricks" or try to sabotage the session.
Do
you think mediums and clairvoyants disturb the dead?
I have developed my gifts of clairvoyance
and Mediumship, but have ambivalent thoughts about my actually doing any Mediumship work. A psychic reader has told me not
to do this... don't disturb the dead... my husband says I should not do this... the bible says not to. Do you think mediums
disturb the dead?
Neither I, nor you, disturb the dead. There
is no such thing as death, when the physical body dies, the spirit lives on. This is the "life ever lasting" which Jesus spoke
about... It is sad that some religions place such ideas as disturbing the dead, into the hearts and minds of others.
We are fortunate because in the United Kingdom, Spiritualism is a recognised religion.
Many Spiritualist organisations preach the bible and the teachings of our brother Jesus the Christ. Even Jesus said "In my
father's house, there are many mansions" and "Greater things than this you shall do also".
There is much guilt laying by some religions
and they put the fear of God into the hearts of very Spiritual people, to frighten them off from being the beautiful people
God created them to be. Society does the same thing in a different way. There are a lot of people who do not understand the
principles of Spiritualism. I do not call up the dead, for the simple reason, that their spirits are not dead. They come to
prove that there is life after physical death, to prove the continuation of life and the cycle of life beyond this world.
How many of your family / friends go to the
Remembrance Gardens
to visit their loved ones and spend hours sometimes talking to them at the graveside? How many feel they hear their loved
ones answer them........
My understanding of God and Jesus is that they offer true
spiritual, compassionate and unconditional love, and this is what they want us to demonstrate in our lives. Any religion that
does not allow you to question issues of their preachers, or their understanding of God, is to take away your human rights
and God would never be happy with such attitudes and restrictions imposed on us to restrict our growth.
How can I find
out whether a medium or psychic is genuine?
You should expect to pay a reasonable
rate for the services offered by a good medium or psychic. However, extremely high fees should be avoided, as they do not
reflect the quality of the medium or psychic's work, only their motive for making financial gain.
Be careful when a medium says that
he or she will promise communication from a specific loved one in spirit. No medium or psychic can make that guarantee. In
most cases it does happen, but nothing can be guaranteed, only that the medium or psychic do their best.
Be very wary of mediums or psychics
who ask detailed personal questions, either before or during your reading. They will often, "fish" for information and recycle
that information back to you, either as a message from a loved one in spirit or as part of a psychic reading. No true medium
or psychic needs to know anything about you, except your name. In point of fact, even your name is not necessary.
What does the clairvoyant require if he visits you?
The clairvoyant
simply requires a table and two chairs in a quiet airy room. As the clairvoyant gets very dry he would require a jug of water
and a glass tumbler.
If the
booking is for more than one person, the room must be away from the location that the other person(s) would be waiting. A
kitchen is acceptable (unless access is required during the consultations) and a bedroom is acceptable provided there is sufficient
space for a table and two chairs.
Can I ask questions during the consultation?
The clairvoyant
welcomes questions during the consultation. All questions are put up to his Spirit Guides and Helpers who will endeavour to
assist the clairvoyant to answer your questions as fully as possible.
Remember
you will receive the information that you need, not necessarily what you want. During the consultation you need to be open-minded
and honest with the clairvoyant. If you do not understand what the clairvoyant is giving you, please advise the clairvoyant
at the earliest opportunity and he will pass it back to his Spirit Guides and Helpers who will endeavour give you more evidence
to assist you.
Can the clairvoyant guarantee that I will receive a message?
Unfortunately,
the clairvoyant does not have control on who is available to pass a message to you. He can prevent unwanted, troublesome or
nuisance spirits but cannot demand a specific loved ones make themselves known during the consultation.
The best person
to guarantee that is the client. If you spend some quiet time thinking about or praying to your loved ones, they are more
likely to draw close to you during your consultation. Likewise, if you require guidance in respect to a specific matter or
issue, spending quiet time thinking about the topic of concern, prior to the consultation is likely to give you a substantially
better result from the consultation. That is not to say you will receive the advice and / or guidance you want, but you should
receive the advice and guidance you need. Occasionally, the advise you will receive may be to do nothing or to walk away from
and disregard the situation.
How can I prepare myself for a consultation?
Although
no formal preparation is necessary, it has been found that clients who follow the following simple rules receive a better
consultation:
a. Do NOT consume alcohol prior to the consultation
b. Do NOT smoke immediately prior to or during a consultation
c. Spend some quiet time thinking about or praying to your loved ones
d. Spend some quiet time thinking about any topic of concern
e. Enter the consultation with an open-mind
f. Make
a list of questions you may wish to ask the clairvoyant
